Are we the universe?

Have you ever thought to yourself, "do we live in the universe, or are we part of the universe?" Well, we are going to delve into this somewhat philosophical question.

To understand this, we will have to find out how the universe is made up and how we fit into its structure.

At the elemental level.

In the scientific world, famous elements are known as life's building blocks. These elements are namely Carbon Hydrogen Oxygen Nitrogen Sulfur and Phosphorus. The most fascinating thing is that these elements are found across the universe, that is in galaxies and stars, and are the major building elements of living organisms and in our case human beings. The abundance of these elements varies depending on the part of the universe you are looking at, however, the fact remains that they are there.

This relationship at the elemental level between the human being and the entire universe implies that we are one with the universe or rather we are the universe manifesting itself in human form. This has also led to a popular phrase that "human beings are made from stardust". Which if you think of it in terms of atoms and elements, it is not far from true.

Our purpose in the universe.

If we move forward with the thought that we are part of the universe, we can find our purpose by looking at how the universe is functioning. The major function underpinning the existence of the universe is growing. It has been observed that the universe is continuously expanding, with stars dying while others are being born.

If we were even to check out the Darwinian theory of evolution, we see a selective process of improvement among species across the realm of living organisms. If we magnify the history of the human race we find a story of growth and improvement. And this is what defines our purpose. Our purpose is growth and improvement. Therefore, as long as one is growing in different areas of their life to achieve better results each time, I would say you are achieving your purpose in line with the universe.

The link between consciousness and the universe.

In the history of religion and human culture, we have had times when humans sought their oneness with the universe in a field known as Mysticism. In other words, it would be described as exploring the link between our consciousness and that of the universe. This link has been described as the conscious universe within philosophical and mystical circles.

According to Alan Watts, we are the witnesses through which the universe experiences its glory. In other words, Neil Degrass Tyson would say that we are the universe looking back at itself. Gathering from that, we would say that in reality a vibrational connection is experienced at all levels starting from the atomic to the physical level, and is the foundation of the consciousness of the universe.

Conclusion

If we would practice mindful observation of the interactions and similarities within all scopes of the universe starting at the sub-atomic to galactic. We would appreciate the fact that everything is connected through vibrational energy that defines reality.

Just like our ancestors felt a need to connect to the observable and non-observable universe through mysticism, we would be at a greater advantage especially using our modern technology to find the universe within us and understand our link to it.
