IS YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT GETTING TAGGED PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL?

Updated: Jul 3, 2022

Do you belong to the group of Facebook users who have been tagged in a pornographic post by a complete stranger or a friend? Are you angry at them for tagging you in a pornographic post? Don't attack them right away because at that point they aren't in control of their account and have fallen victim to a malware attack/scam that has been going on since 2015.

The malware that is to blame is present in the videos. When you click the marked link, this spyware infects your phone. In the recent past, a false Flash Player update that appears during a pornographic video's preview has been the passageway of the malware into a device. Once the malware has gotten into the device, the malware's developer can remotely access your device using a Trojan horse program and infect your computer with viruses.

How to avoid being a victim

NEITHER CLICK THE LINK NOR THE TAGGED VIDEO. When a Facebook friend tags you on a pornographic movie or link and it ends up on your feed, be cautious before clicking on it. But if you click it and it prompts you to install or update anything get away as quickly as possible.

How to stop the tags from showing on your timeline

You can accept or reject tags that readers contribute to your posts using the tag review feature. If someone tags something you uploaded after you set on tag review, the tag won't show up until you've given it your approval. Activating tag review

To turn on tag review:

1. Tap in the top right of Facebook.

2. Scroll down and tap Settings.

3. Scroll down to Privacy and tap Profile and tagging.

4. Tap Review tags people add to your posts before the tags appear on Facebook? Below Reviewing.

5. Tap next to On to turn on the tag review

Beef up your Facebook security

You can also beef up your security by activating two-factor authentication (two-step verification) in your Facebook security settings. This feature links your Facebook account to a third party such as your phone number or email.

This allows Facebook to send a special login code to your phone number to confirm any login attempts from a device not recognized by Facebook. Therefore logging into the account from a non-recognized device, you must first enter a password as usual and then put in the special code sent to your phone or email.

To put it another way, even if a hacker knows your password, they still need your phone to access your Facebook account. Thus, the likelihood that a hacker will access your account and do mischievous stuff or get hold of your sensitive information is pretty low.

Cyber threats will be there forever as long as the internet exists, therefore it is paramount that you always take care of your online accounts. No matter how much software developers try to minimize these cyber threats ,always remember that cybersecurity starts with you.
